ZimmersHow To Give

Did you know that your hard work could disappear at your death if you fail to have a good estate plan in place?

This is what could happen: Your assets could go to the wrong people; or your estate could pay more than necessary in administrative costs; and you may miss some major estate-tax savings opportunities.

You may think of estate planning as simply drafting your will. That, however, is only part of the picture since a will probably covers only part of your assets - the assets you own in your own name alone, or as tenants in common with someone else.

Unless you have a coordinated estate plan with wills, living wills, and durable powers of attorney, including the right ownership and the right beneficiaries, you risk pitting one family member against another. And it doesn't matter what you say. What matters is what is written down!

At Elim Park, our Development office is available to assist you in the very complicated but critical areas of Estate Planning. One major Estate-tax Savings Plan is Charitable Giving. Because Elim Park is a not for profit organization, under IRS code 501(c) (3), we can accept your charitable gifts and fit it into your estate plan.

Reasons For Making A Charitable Gift

Many people make gifts or bequests to Elim Park for a number of reasons. Among the more common motivations are:

  • Perpetuation of one's beliefs, values, and ideals
  • Religious and spiritual commitment
  • Compassion for those in need
  • In memory of, or in honor of, someone
  • A desire to share one's blessings with others.

Different Types of Charitable Gifts

Among the types of charitable gifts one can give are:

  • Out right gifts of cash, stock, or property
  • Charitable gift annuity
  • Insurance
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts
  • Bequests in your will. (Usually a percentage of your estate.)

Whatever the reasons, U.S. tax law is designed to encourage these gifts. We would encourage you to consider giving to Elim Park Baptist Home Inc., as part of your estate plan.
