On the afternoon of April 30th 2011 Elim Park broke ground on the Riverbend
Expansion. The groundbreaking ceremony and earth turning celebration kicked off
the seventh and final phase of residential expansion on the 38 acre campus here in
Cheshire. The expansion will offer the addition of 40 one and two bedroom luxury
apartment homes in a new 3 story building with patios & balconies, full size washers
and dryers in every apartment and 40 underground parking spaces. With the addition
of Riverbend to the community it will dramatically enhance the active living options
& experience of both current residents and those who will join them in the near future
as neighbors.
The ceremony began with a welcome address by Chairman of the Elim Park Board Of
Directors Derek Mogck and was followed by Guest Speaker, CEO Ron Dischinger
and Keynote Speaker Rev. David DeVries of Trinity Baptist Church. With over 200
guests in attendance, the earth turning offered great photo opportunities for future
residents of Riverbend and the Elim Park staff including the Building Committee. The
reception offered delicious Hors D’Oeuveres and entertainment by Judy Handler with
guitar and flute duo.
Elim Park first started in Shelton Connecticut in 1906 and relocated to Cheshire in
1958. With 105 years of service, Elim Park’s mission and foundation for providing an
active lifestyle with security and peace of mind, has remained steadfast. The new
neighborhood of New England-style apartment homes will have a view of the river
and all the natural beauty and interest a flowing stream brings to its surroundings.
Riverbend will boast three floors of luxurious living, with central lounges and
underground parking —and caters to the needs and requests of future residents who
are seeking larger apartments and more amenities. The new apartments will range
from 800 to almost 1,850 square feet in size with 12 different floor plans. Connected
