A Home for You and Your Pets: Barbara’s Story at Elim Park
For Barbara, having pets isn’t optional, it’s just part of her life. They’ve always been there, and when she started thinking about moving, she knew one thing for sure: wherever she went, they were coming too.
That’s what made Elim Park feel like the right fit.
A Place Where Pets Are Part of the Picture
“Elim Park is very pet friendly,” Barbara says. “As long as your pet is well behaved and gets along with people and other animals, they’re welcome here.”
That mattered to her. She wasn’t interested in a place where she’d have to compromise or leave that part of her life behind.
Meet Finnegan
Barbara’s dog, Finnegan, is an eight-year-old schnoodle. He’s friendly, easygoing, and gets a lot of attention.
“People say he looks like a teddy bear,” she says.
He also keeps her moving. They walk the campus every day, and it’s become a nice routine. Finnegan tends to draw people in, so walks often turn into conversations.
“He’s a natural therapy dog,” Barbara says. “People just want to pet him and he’s happy to oblige.”
And Then There’s Kiki
At home, Barbara also has her cat, Kiki. She’s a calico with a big personality.
“She rules the roost,” Barbara says. “Sometimes she even climbs on his back for a little ride.”
The two get along well, and both have settled in comfortably.
It Just Feels Like Home
For Barbara, her pets are a big part of her day-to-day life.
“I can’t be without my pets,” she says. “They are very much a part of my life.”
At Elim Park, that’s not something she has to explain or justify.
Come Take a Look
If you’re curious about what life here is like, the best way to get a feel for it is to visit. Our open houses are a good chance to walk the campus, meet residents, and see how it all comes together, including the four-legged residents.
If an open house doesn’t work for you, we’re always happy to set up a time that does.
